Assistant Superintendent – Public Sector

Position Summary

Brockwell & Carrington Contractors, Inc., a leader in New Jersey’s public-sector construction, is seeking a junior Assistant Superintendent with hands-on field experience on public works projects. This position supports the Project Superintendent in the daily execution of ground-up construction and is ideal for a motivated field professional looking to grow within a General Contracting organization.

Key Responsibilities

      •     Assist the Project Superintendent with daily on-site construction operations.

      •     Support coordination and oversight of subcontractor activities to ensure work is performed safely, in sequence, and in accordance with the contract documents.

      •     Monitor daily progress and assist with short-interval planning and look-ahead schedules.

      •     Perform routine site walks to verify quality, sequencing, and compliance with plans and specifications.

      •     Assist with site logistics, material deliveries, and trade coordination.

      •     Maintain daily field reports, site photos, and project documentation.

      •     Support enforcement of safety requirements and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.

      •     Assist with inspections, punch lists, and quality control activities.

      •     Communicate field conditions, issues, and progress updates to the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.

Qualifications

      •     3–5 years of experience on public-sector construction projects (required).

      •     Experience on ground-up public works projects strongly preferred.

      •     Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Structural, Civil, and MEP drawings.

      •     Working knowledge of construction sequencing, site logistics, and trade coordination.

      •     Carpentry or masonry background preferred but not required.

      •     Familiarity with NJ public-sector requirements and prevailing wage standards preferred.

      •     Proficiency with construction field technology, including Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.

      •     Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with subcontractors, inspectors, and internal project team members.

      •     OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Work Location

      •     Position may float between projects as needed.

      •     A more permanent project assignment is anticipated in late Spring 2026.

Compensation & Benefits

      •     Base salary range: $85,000–$105,000, commensurate with experience
